More information is available on plans for the ‘East-West Railway' to link Oxford and Bedford, via Bicester and Bletchley. These plans, which have the backing of the South-East England Regional Assembly, as well as a number of local authorities, could involve double track and hourly 100 mph trains, cutting Oxford-MK journey times to as little as 35 minutes. Even the slow option promises hourly or half-hourly trains between Oxford and Bicester taking 12 minutes!
